Leading & Learning

At Monachyle Mhor, learning never stands still. We encourage our team, guests and supply partners to share our values, embrace new ideas and help shape a more sustainable future together.

As one of Scotland’s few agritourism hotels, we’re uniquely placed to educate others about rural life in Balquhidder and the Trossachs, while helping to promote positive social and environmental change across the hospitality industry.

Progressive Processes & Policies

Our people are at the heart of everything we do. We strive to recruit individuals who share our values while ensuring Monachyle Mhor is the right fit for them too.

To support every stage of employment, we’ve developed a comprehensive Human Resources framework that makes recruitment, onboarding and career development as transparent and welcoming as possible.

  • Detailed job descriptions for every role.
  • Pre-interview information packs introducing our rural location, working environment and staff accommodation.
  • Formal contracts and a warm welcome into the Mhor family for successful applicants.

Our team handbook is regularly updated and shared across the Monachyle Mhor Group, covering everything from holiday entitlement and staff accommodation to maternity, paternity and workplace policies.

All HR documentation is available digitally through our internal platform, with printed copies also accessible across our reception areas.

Find out how we support our people through wellbeing, training and community on our Lasting Connections page.

Learning Together

Curiosity and continuous improvement are part of everyday life at Monachyle Mhor. We encourage every member of our team to develop new skills, broaden their knowledge and continue learning throughout their career.

Our bespoke training programmes cover a wide range of specialist subjects, including onsite management, hospitality, sommelier training, butchery and chef development. Every team member also completes health, safety and wellbeing training through accredited online courses covering subjects such as fire safety, first aid and mental health awareness.

At Monachyle Mhor, our senior leadership team also delivers practical training on the estate itself, helping colleagues understand the surrounding landscape, seasonal farming practices and the responsible management of our land.

As our Social and Environmental Sustainability (SES) strategy continues to evolve, we’ll expand these opportunities further through practical sustainability projects, environmental literacy training and greater team involvement across the business.
