Lasting Connections

Monachyle Mhor has a magnetism all of its own, attracting people who embrace the wilderness, appreciate authentic hospitality and enjoy reconnecting with nature in Balquhidder, at the heart of the Trossachs.

We build genuine, lasting relationships with our guests, our team, our suppliers and our local community. Looking after people is just as important to us as caring for the landscape that surrounds us, creating meaningful connections that last long after every visit.

Monachyle Mhor is a uniquely collaborative experience of authentic people and place. People are drawn here – it’s the perfect access point to reconnect with and experience nature. The balance of luxury with the wildness of the location allows people to let their guard down, immerse themselves in nature and evolve new skills and instincts.

Mhor Family

Our Mhor family is the beating heart of everything we do. You’ll always find us mucking in, sharing a blether and working together to create memorable experiences. Because our people bring passion and purpose to every day, we invest in their wellbeing, training and professional development.

Across the Monachyle Mhor Estate, we employ between 80 and 100 people throughout the year, including seasonal staff. More than 50 team members also call Mhor home, living in staff accommodation across Monachyle Mhor, Mhor 84 Motel and Mhor Bread.

We encourage our people to grow through a range of online and practical training opportunities tailored to different roles across the business. Alongside this, we’re strengthening our focus on staff wellbeing through additional mental health training and the development of an employee wellbeing group.

Farming is central to life at Monachyle Mhor, so we also provide education programmes that help our team understand the land we care for and the responsible farming practices that sustain it. Discover more in our Leading & Learning section.

The Mhor, The Merrier

Life at Monachyle Mhor is about slowing down, embracing nature and sharing this remarkable place with others. Surrounded by mountains, lochs and ancient woodland, we draw on the landscape to create memorable experiences that reconnect people with the outdoors and with themselves.

Guests can join Executive Chef Scott on guided foraging walks, discovering edible plants, seasonal ingredients and traditional natural remedies growing across the estate while learning more about the landscape that inspires our menus.

We also love bringing people together to celebrate. Alongside hosting weddings and corporate events at Monachyle Mhor, our Mhor To Your Door service brings our private chef experience from our home to yours.

Our unique Apitherapy experience, or Bee Therapy, invites guests to unwind inside a specially designed apipod, where the gentle sounds and aromas of the bees encourage relaxation, wellbeing and a closer connection with nature.

We’re proud to partner with RVIVAL to offer authentic, transformative adventures that reconnect guests with the wild surroundings of the Trossachs and encourage them to rediscover a sense of self through nature. Find out more about RVIVAL.

One of the Locals

Balquhidder may be a small community, but it’s one built on warmth, hospitality and togetherness. We’re proud to support our local community by bringing people together through events, shared experiences and initiatives that welcome both residents and visitors.

Throughout the year we host memorable events at Monachyle Mhor, including our renowned Wine & Whisky Safaris, whisky and gin tastings, outdoor feasts and immersive food experiences. We also created the much-loved Mhor Festival, celebrating food, music and the outdoors on our estate.

Located on the A84, Mhor 84 Motel has become an important hub for both the local community and travellers. As well as serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, it regularly hosts book clubs, school music lessons and even a visiting barber.

Every Thursday evening, Thank Folk It’s Thursday brings Mhor 84 to life with live folk music, creating a relaxed atmosphere enjoyed by locals, guests and passing travellers alike.

Established by Lisa May and Tom in 2017, Mhor Instore showcases a carefully curated collection of artisan products, including Dr Osbourne Gin, candles, Sedbergh Soap and a handpicked selection of clothing and accessories from independent makers.

Our bakery, Mhor Bread in Callander, has become a destination in its own right, serving freshly baked sourdough, pastries, cakes and traditional Scottish pies to locals, visitors and even a few appreciative tour bus drivers.

We also organise Run Mhor each year, a series of three running events through the spectacular Balquhidder landscape, including the Hidden Glen 10K, the Mhor 84 Half Marathon and the Mhor Marathon.
