When we spotted the old waiting room from the Port Appin–Isle of Lismore ferry terminal being hauled away for scrap, we knew it deserved a second chance. Today, it lives on as our Ferry Cabin, lovingly restored and relocated within the Mhor grounds, where it enjoys uninterrupted views stretching up Balquhidder Glen.
Inside, a carefully curated mix of vintage finds, quirky treasures and contemporary touches creates a warm, welcoming space full of personality. Together, the Ferry Cabin and its neighbouring Bothy offer a cosy and characterful retreat.
Designed by architecture students Mark Kitson and Michael Cockburn, the reclaimed Bothy sits alongside the Cabin and provides a fully equipped kitchen and comfortable living area for guests. Dedicated bathroom facilities are available at the hotel, just a minute’s walk away. Framed by picture windows with uninterrupted views up the glen, the Bothy invites you to slow down and take in the ever-changing scenery.
With a wood-burning stove, soft rugs, dining space, outdoor wood-fired bath and fire pit, it’s a charming escape from the everyday.
The Ferry Cabin & Bothy sleeps up to four guests, with a minimum two-night stay.
Self-cater or book to eat at the hotel.
