We aim to inspire and engage our incredible team, guests and supply partners with our values and vision of the future.. With approachability, accountability and transparency central to how we operate, we will write our future, together.
We’re also set apart and we’re not just talking about our remote location.. As one of Scotland’s few agritourism hotels, Mhor has a role to play in educating others about rural life, whilst influencing positive social and environmental impact within our industry.
It’s our team members that make Mhor – we’re a passionate and gregarious group who strive to provide a wondrous experience for all our guests. As such, it’s our responsibility to recruit the right people who embody these values – whilst equally ensuring that we’ll be a good fit for them too.
We have an extensive Human Resources infrastructure in place for all stages of employment at the Monachyle Mhor Group, to make our recruitment and onboarding process as fair, transparent and fluid as possible. This includes:
We also have a range of team policies and procedures in place across the Mhor group, which align with our vision and values. These are all outlined in our staff handbook, which we update regularly and circulate to all our employees across the business. The handbook covers aspects including holiday entitlement, information on staff accommodation, as well as maternity and paternity leave.
All of our HR documentation is easily accessible for every one of our team members through an internal digital platform, and we also keep physical copies of our staff handbook in our reception areas across our establishments.
We’re constantly looking to adapt and evolve our business for the better, which is why we encourage everyone at Mhor to stay curious, have an open mind and a willingness to learn.
We have developed bespoke training courses for our team to enhance their skills and knowledge in specific areas across the business. These include Onsite Management, High Level Hospitality, Sommelier, Butchery and Chef Training. We also provide health, safety and wellbeing courses for all our team members, which are delivered online through ACAS and cover areas such as fire handling, first aid and mental health.
For our staff members at Monachyle, we offer unique on the ground training delivered by our senior leadership team. This encompasses education on the local land and farming techniques, including seasonal changes and what works well specifically for our sites at Mhor.
Over the next few years, we’re aiming to enhance these education programmes even further by providing more team training and engagement opportunities around our Social and Environmental Sustainability (SES) strategy. We’ll be encouraging our team members to get involved in SES projects that are specifically relevant to our business, as well as training around environmental policy and literacy.
We’re always looking to connect with likeminded organisations and networks who align with our values, where we can share knowledge and promote positive social and environmental impact within our industry. Some of our existing memberships and partnerships include:
Scottish Agritourism: We’re a member of Scottish Agritourism, the official body for agritourism in Scotland which brings together a network of entrepreneurial farmers and rural businesses. We’re proud to be recognised as one of Scotland’s few Agritourist Hotels, and regularly participate in speaker sessions at agritourism conferences and events.
Ringlink Scotland: We are both a member and stakeholder of Ringlink Scotland, the UK’s largest rural business ring co-operative which revolves around the supply and demand of goods and services between its members.
RVIVAL: We’re excited to have recently formed a partnership with RVIVAL, who are pioneers of bespoke and unforgettable wilderness journeys and experiences, designed to revive our primitive instincts and infuse nature within our lives.
