LASTING CONNECTIONS

Mhor has a magnetism of its very own that attracts a special kind of people. Those who want to be themselves, enjoy our unique location and surroundings and embrace the wilderness.

At Mhor, we make genuine connections with likeminded people that have a meaningful and lasting impact. From our customers and our team to our suppliers and local community, we respect and look after our people as much as we do our natural surroundings.

“Monachyle Mhor is a uniquely collaborative experience of authentic people and place. People are drawn here – it’s the perfect access point to reconnect with and experience nature. The balance of luxury with the wildness of the location allows people to let their guard down, immerse themselves in nature and evolve new skills and instincts.”

MHOR FAMILY

‘Mhor found me’,

Our Mhor family are the beating heart of our business. You’ll always find us out and about, mucking-in and up for a blether. Our people have passion and purpose in all that they do, so we make sure to show them the same care and commitment by prioritising wellbeing, training and education opportunities.

There are between 100 – 130 employees at the Monachyle Mhor Group, including our seasonal staff. We’re also a place to call home, with over 50 of our team members living onsite across our staff accommodation at Monachyle Mhor, Mhor 84 Motel and Mhor Bread.

We make sure we support our team and give them opportunities to grow and flourish. We offer a variety of online and on-the-ground training courses across our team, many of which are tailored to specific skills and areas of our business. We’re also putting an even greater focus on our staff wellbeing, through increased mental health training and the establishment of an employee wellbeing group over the next year.

As farming is our forte at Monachyle Mhor, we offer education programmes to teach our team about our local land, and how we look after it through responsible farming practices. You can read more about some of these training and education opportunities we offer in our Leading & Learning section.

THE MHOR, THE MERRIER

Mhor is a truly magical place, where we’re all about slowing down and restoring our wellbeing through the wilderness around us. We’re lucky enough to live here, so we like to welcome guests into our home share this magic with them – The Mhor, The Merrier! We draw on our abundance of natural assets as a blank canvas to paint people’s unique experiences, in a variety of ways:

Walking the Walk: We love telling guests about the land and inviting them on our wild wanders. Our Monachyle Mhor guests can join Executive Chef, Marysia on foraging trips, where you’ll be fascinated by her knowledge on the food and natural remedies that grow around you.

Bringing the Party: And we certainly love hosting a party or two, which is why we cater for corporate events and weddings on site. But if you can’t come to us, then we’ll come to you with our ‘Mhor To Your Door’ service, where we’ll bring our private chef service from our home to yours.

Bee Therapy: Yes, we provide Apitherapy – another word for ‘Bee Therapy’ – for our guests at Monachyle Mhor. This relaxing experience encourages you to de-stress and re-charge to the sound of bees, inside our specially designed apipod.

RVIVAL: We have partnered with experiential and lifestyle provider RVIVAL, to offer our guests authentic, transformative experiences and unforgettable journeys at Monachyle Mhor, that aim to better attune us to our wild surroundings and rediscover our sense of self through nature. We should have a prompt to  offer a link here when it is available?

ONE OF THE LOCALS

In Balquhidder, we’re a small but mighty community. We enjoy getting people together, whether that be for a coffee, a dram, a hearty meal or a singsong. At Mhor, we host a variety of community events and engagement initiatives, where we welcome locals and visitors alike.

Mhor Events: We are proud to offer outstanding events here at Monachyle Mhor, including our famous Wine & Whisky Safaris, local whisky and gin tasting as well as outdoor cooking events and feasts on our local lochs. We even hosted our very own highly successful Mhor Festival on our estate.

Mhor 84 Motel: Located on the A84, Mhor 84 Motel has become an important tourist and local community hub. It provides a much-needed rest stop for walkers, cyclists and travellers; serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. It also regularly hosts local book clubs, school music lessons and even a barber service.

Thank Folk It’s Thursday: We can’t mention Mhor 84 Motel without telling you about our live folk music event. Taking place every Thursday, it’s become a real favourite for locals and motel guests, with great tunes and a fantastic atmosphere.

Mhor Instore: Established in 2017 by Lisa May and Tom, the Mhor Instore Shop features a carefully curated range of local artisan products, including Dr Osbourne gin and candles, Sedbergh Soap and a handpicked collection of beautiful clothes and accessories.

Mhor Bread: Mhor Bread is our bakery shop located in Callander, where you can buy our freshly made sourdough, sweet treats and delicious Scottish pies. It’s become a destination for locals, tourists and travellers – so much so that we feed our tour bus driver regulars for free!

Run Mhor: We also host ‘Run Mhor’ each year, which is a series of three running events that take place in Balquhidder. These include the Hidden Glen 10K, Mhor 84 Half Marathon and the Mhor Marathon.
